Christopher J. Morin, MD, MBA,
FACS, CPE

Dr. Chris Morin is a practicing vascular surgeon certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is also an accomplished leader in the development of cardiac and vascular centers. In his capacity as a Medical Director for the a major C-V program, he serviced as an active Member of a chartered, strategic council over the hospital’s cardiovascular service line. He was also the Chairman of the programs key Cardiac Operations Group and member of a number of strategic and operational subcommittees and initiatives.

Educated at the Brown University School of Medicine and the University of Rhode Island School of Business and serving residency in general and vascular surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School, Chris has held active academic appointments at the University of Pennsylvania, DeSalles University, Brown University, Harvard Medical School, and was a Visiting Professor for Pavlov Medical Institute, University of St. Petersburg, Russia. In addition, Dr. Morin is active in numerous vascular and surgical professional societies. Chris’ expanded clinical experience has also included trauma surgery experience as Presidential Regional Trauma Surgeon, and trauma surgeon in a level-one trauma center.

A skilled, practical, systems-thinker as well as a clinical expert in endovascular disease, Chris’ management experience is deep and includes roles as: Chairman of the Board for a national heart institute; Chief Operating Officer of University Surgical Alliance; Director, Board of Directors University Surgical Associates; Treasurer, University Surgery Associates; Medical Director for an HMO in Rhode Island; and Chairman of the Department of Surgery for a six hospital network.

His recent program, service line, and cardiac and vascular center develop experience includes:
Formulating a multi-specialty / multi-disciplinary consensus for the delivery of vascular care by cardiologists, surgeons and radiologists;
Recasting physician members from the traditional medical department structure into a progressive Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at a community hospital;
Developing and implementing a revitalized credentialing process, revising old and inadequate privileging criteria into a consensus-driven set for new privileging that support multi-specialty cooperation, as well as demonstrable, continued clinical competence related to endovascular services;
Serving as one of the leads on the development and implementation of a robust clinical database that serves as the key clinical and administrative tool for a CV service line;
Implementing an integrated service line governance structure among multi-specialties and a community hospital; and
Driving the process of certification of a Level I trauma center.
